Bhag Singh Khalsa College is situated at Kala Tibba, Sitto Road, Abohar. The college was named after the name of Late S. Bhag Singh Ji Hayer. He was a renowned personality of village Kala Tibba (Abohar). He was born to S. Mehar SIngh Hayer and Sardarni Punjab Kaur in 1910. He had his basic education from Govt. High School, Abohar, thereafter, he did F.A. from Lahore (now in Pakistan). After his education, he took to ancestral profession of agriculture and introduced new techniques in agriculture and horticulture. He was acknowledged person in government and used to participate in social, political and religios events with great enthusiasm. He remained chairman of Market Committee, Abohar for 20 years. The beloved soul of the area, left for heavenly abode in 1997.
The main purpose of Bhag Singh Khalsa College for Women is to provide education especially to rural girl students which will enable them to develop their intellectual abilities along with social and emotional maturity. After acquiring these educational traits they may enter into the main stream of life with confidence. The college derives its direction and working philosophy from its mission statement: ‘Sarbat Da Bhala’ (Welfare of all).
Ever since its establishment the college has made a tremendous progress in all walks of education such as Academic, Cultural and Sports and many of our rural girls have now been placed on significant Govt. posts like police administration, para military forces, financial sector and academics. College is now possessing a magnificent image in the sphere of women education and empowerment.
